On Friday, Jan. 14, the Parish Hill girls’ basketball team took on O’Brien Tech from Ansonia. Special guests at the game were members of the Hampton-Chaplin Huskies girls’ basketball team, composed of girls ages 7 and 8. Coach James Harrington, who is also the Hampton/Chaplin Recreation Commission coordinator, was the prime organizer behind the first-time event. Hampton/Chaplin rec. games normally take place on Saturdays in the Parish Hill gym. Many of the Huskies players will go on to play at Parish Hill, so the event was a nice opportunity for the girls to get a glimpse into the future.

“The little girls were only set to play at halftime,” said Peter Leeds, Athletic Director at Parish Hill. But the high school players saw an introduction “tunnel” at another school and decided it would be a great addition to the event. So the younger girls helped introduce the high school team, and played their own game during half-time. Parish Hill beat O’Brien Tech by a final score of 53-26. The next Parish Hill home game is Friday, Jan. 28 beginning at 7 p.m. For a full listing of the team's schedule, go to
