The South Windsor Open Space Task Force is preparing for the annual Trails Day to be held this year on Sunday, June 5, at the Major Michael Donnelly Land Preserve, located at 1165 Sullivan Ave. This town-owned property runs from Sullivan Avenue to West Road, and passes over the Podunk River with a series of pathways and bridges.

At the event, which runs from 1 to 4 p.m., the OSTF will have updated maps of the trails and information from the National Wildlife Federation on the wildlife certification process for backyards and for the town. OSTF will also have a new supply of their tote bags for purchase that day. The informational tables will be set up at both the Sullivan Avenue and West Road parking areas.

At the May 2 meeting, it was noted that residents have been letting their dogs run off-leash at Wapping Park. There has also been ATV activity at that park. Residents are reminded that dogs are not allowed off-leash on town property, and also that ATVs are not allowed at Wapping Park.

The South Windsor Open Space Task Force meets the first Monday of the month. For more information, visit the town website at southwindsor.org.
