The East Catholic High School commencement exercises were held on Thursday, June 2, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford.

A total of 176 students graduated, including 52 National Honor Society members, four National Merit Commendation recipients and two National Merit Finalists.

Diplomas were presented by Bishop Christie Macaluso and Superintendent of Schools Dale Hoyt.  The Baccalaureate Address was given by Dr. Erin Bakanas, ECHS class of 1979.

Rather than identifying only the top two students, East Catholic High School honors the top 12 students in the graduating class as Archbishop Henry J. O'Brien Scholars.  This year’s O’Brien Scholars are: Luc Lagace, Dante Balassone, Theresa Oei, Samantha Kaseta, Samantha Marshall, Allyson Fournier, Giuliana Zaccardelli, Stephanie Ternullo, Casey Horan, John Bugnacki, Tanekwah Hinds and Henry Downes.
