Suspect arrested in July’s Plains Drive shooting case

Leshawn Henry, 25, has been arrested and charged in the July shooting of a woman on Plains Drive. Henry turned himself in on Sept. 13, and was charged with first degree assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and reckless endangerment in the first degree.
According to police, the shooting occurred on July 22 at 12:30 a.m., during a party held at 9 Plains Drive in East Hartford. The victim, a woman, was shot in both arms, following a dispute. The injuries to the woman, whose name was not released, were not life-threatening, and she was treated and released from the hospital.
A police investigation of the shooting found that Henry was a Facebook friend of the woman's acquaintance who was also at the party. Henry ran away after the shooting, and the police were called.
Hartford Police Det. John O'Hara, of the Greater Hartford Multi-Jurisdictional Task Force, and East Hartford Police Det. Jason Somola conducted the investigation that led to the arrest of Henry. Henry turned himself in after the warrant was issued for his arrest. He was held on $100,000 bond, with a court date scheduled for Oct. 13.
