Children name new Manchester Police service dogs

To help name the two newest canine members of their K-9 unit, the Manchester Police Department recruited assistance from the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

In April 2011, the children voted for one of the four names for each dog. The choices for Officer Joshua Eastwood’s police service dog were Ike, Kane, Trigg or Wyatt. Officer Michael Magrey’s dog could have been named Hugo, Jax, Ozzy or Truman. The winning names were Kane and Jax.

Both K-9 teams have since completed training at the K-9 Police Academy and are on patrol in Manchester. The two K-9 teams visited CCMC on Sept. 20 for a demonstration and to meet with the children.
