On a typical day, the Raymond Library is filled with people who come to use the computers to look for jobs, to take free courses or get access to the Internet. City and state officials recently toured the library and expressed support for an expansion of the

facility.State Sen. Gary Lebeau (D-3rd District) said he will submit a bonding request to the state legislature that would nearly double the current library. Lebeau brought state Senate President Don Williams (D-29th District) to East Hartford to meet with Mayor Marcia Leclerc, Library Director Patrick Jones and state Rep. Henry Genga (D-10th District).

The request would expand the building from its current 17,900 square feet to approximately 50,00 square feet by using part of the parking lot to add a two-story structure of about 36,000 square feet.
