The winter storm that downed power lines and plunged most of the area into the dark did not deter the trick-or-treaters from enjoying Downtown Manchester’s Halloween Happenings on Saturday, Oct. 29, as the party began at 11:30 a.m., before the heavy flakes began to fall.

Hundreds of children donned their scariest, funniest or prettiest costumes. In addition to trick-or-treating at the participating businesses on Main Street, there was “Chalk the Walk” at Center Memorial Park, hosted by the Manchester Arts Commission, a Spooktacular Story Time at the Mary Cheney Library, pumpkin decorating, sponsored by the Manchester Antiques Mall, and the announcement of the Scarecrow Festival winners.
