This year there were luminaries lining the sidewalk between the Columbia Town Hall and the gazebo on the green. Another addition to the town gazebo-lighting celebration on Dec. 4 was the fire department’s ATV, which was decked out in holiday lights and spewed fluffy, frothy snow as it entered the area.

The ATV’s arrival was timed to coincide with Santa’s traditional arrival on a lighted town fire truck, and both events were a big hit with the children. Kids had a difficult time deciding between clamoring for Santa’s attention and chasing after the alluring snowflakes, and many had to be gently coaxed along by their parents.

Following the gazebo-lighting and traditional carol sing led by Girl Scouts was a gathering at Yeoman's Hall. Refreshments and crafts were available, with Santa taking his seat on the auditorium stage, ready to hear the Christmas wishes of the children.
