The Plainfield Senior Center held its annual Christmas dinner on Dec. 1 at the Plainfield Town Hall. Two hundred people were treated to a roast beef dinner with all the fixings. Kickback Duo provided the entertainment. Twelve themed baskets were raffled off, and local businesses provided gift cards as door prizes. Centerpieces made at the Dempsey Center adorned each table. At the end of the dinner, these too were raffled away.

“This is the biggest social event of the year,” said President Terry Cwynar. “We have more people this year than ever.”

G7 Caterers from Woodstock prepared the roast beef, mashed potatoes and carrots. Salads and strawberry shortcake were also served. The cost of the meal was $16 for members.

Cwynar has already booked next year's Christmas dinner entertainment.

“This is the kickoff for the holiday season for us older folks,” John Turner said. “They turn more people away each year.”
