The Wilson Volunteer Fire Department’s Company 2 Station was the place to be on Saturday, Dec. 17, when Santa joined hundreds of children and their parents at the 20th annual Visit with Santa - a gathering made possible by Dr. George Curry of Curry Chiropractic in Windsor, his family, and Toys for Tots.
Arriving at precisely 10 a.m. in the station’s newest rescue truck, Santa got right to work, listening closely to last-minute wish lists, posing for photos with kids and their parents, and giving out toys.
Greeting guests were Curry’s son George, Jr., and Ryan Foley. Handling the photos were four more members of the Curry family, including Casey, who took all the pictures; Colin and Molly, who, with family friend Adam Spencer, kept busy outputting prints; and Kerry Curry, who delivered finished copies of each portrait to families.
And selecting precisely the right gift for each and every child were George Curry himself and his daughter Jackie. Of course, they’ve had considerable practice as Santa’s official helpers. Explained Curry, digging deep into a huge plastic bag for what turned out to be a new basketball, “We’ve been doing this for 20 years!”
Curry went on to explain that the Visit with Santa has been a real blessing for his whole family. “It’s a way to give back and share our love for the town we all grew up in and still work in,” he said. He also noted that the Curry family really enjoys hosting Santa. “This is one of his favorite stops,” said Curry. “He loves Windsor and he loves to be here giving gifts to the kids every year!”
