In the world of high school gymnastics, Kelsi Levesque is known as a “Team of One.” A junior at Coventry High School, Levesque competes at level 9 in club gymnastics with Patti Dunne’s in Hebron. But because there aren’t enough gymnasts (four) to make up an official team at Coventry, Levesque isn’t eligible for team scores in high school competitions. She can earn scores on an individual basis, though, and Levesque was competing alongside the RHAM team at their meet against Stonington on Jan. 16.

“She’s a beautiful gymnast to watch,” said RHAM coach Kathy Jordan. Jordan said that Levesque has qualified for the past two years to compete in all four events (bars, beam, floor and vault) at the state open competition.

Levesque put in a respectable appearance as a sophomore competitor at last year’s opens, coming in at number 11 out of 26 competitors in the bars, at number 11 out of 32 in the floor, and placing number 21 out of 68 competitors in All-Around. Levesque will be looking to return to the opens in all four events this year.
