The Bacon Academy Bobcat boys’ basketball team made senior night a night to remember, as they came back from as much as a 10-point deficit to defeat Killingly High School, 62–54, in a hard-fought game at Bacon Academy last Friday, Feb. 10. Killingly had an early lead, thanks in large part to the outside shooting of Killingly’s Jeff Clang, who hit five three-point shots in the first half alone.
Trailing for most of the game, the Bobcats used a 20-2 point run late to erase the deficit, knotting the game at 52 with just over two minutes remaining, on a shot from the top of the key by senior forward Zak Miazga. The shot drew a huge roar from the large crowd at Dave Shea Gymnasium.
Some clutch free-throw shooting in the game’s final minute put it away for the Bobcats. Miazga led the Bobcats with 28 points, while senior Tim Willauer added 12.
With the victory, the Bobcats go to 9 -9 on the season, and will finish with road games at Plainfield and at Norwich Free Academy. With the loss, Killingly drops to 4-13 on the season.
