As expected, the Windham High School wrestling team had a strong showing at the Division M tournament, hosted Feb. 17 and 18 at home. The team finished second, with an overall score of 232, behind only Ledyard (team score 260). Finishing in third place was Bacon Academy (148).

Windham had several first-place individual finishes: Michael Ruffino (weight 113), Miguel Calixto (weight 132), Nicholas Poulin (weight 195), and Wolfgang Fiosconar (heavyweight). Sebastian Ruffino finished second in the 106 weight class, pinned by Ledyard's Devon Marcaurele in the final round.  Devyn Petsa also had a second place finish for Windham, losing by decision to Ledyard's Alex Manwaring in the final round. Xavier Kernozek finished third in the 220 weight class. Finishing fourth for Windham in the 138 weight class was Dakota Fleming.

Windham has 10 wrestlers who qualify to compete at the State Opens, scheduled for Feb. 24 and 25 in New Haven: freshman Sebastian Ruffino, wrestling at 106; junior Michael Ruffino, wrestling at 113; senior Taylor Grauer, wrestling at 126; junior Miguel Calixto, wrestling at 132; sophomore Dakota Fleming, wrestling at 138; junior Devyn Petsa, wrestling at 160; senior Marcus Jenkins, wrestling at 182; junior Nicholas Poulin, wrestling at 195; junior Xavier Kernozek, wrestling at 220; and junior heavyweight Wolfgang Fiasconaro.
