The Willington PTA honored the Hall Memorial School basketball teams with a "Night of Champions" at the school gym on March 23. The evening featured a game between the combined members of the girls’ and boys’ teams and staff members from both the Hall and Center schools, and the unveiling of the Lady Falcons’ second consecutive NEMSAC League championship banner.

The team posted a 15-1 record during the 2011-2012 regular season then defeated Porter and Windham in the playoffs to reach the championship game, in which they routed Bolton, 36-20.

The boys’ team went 12-4 on their season and made it to the NEMSAC quarterfinals. Trailing Lebanon by 18 points in the second half, they rallied furiously but came up just short of victory.

Kudos to girls’ coach Ryan Duffy and boys’ coaches Jay and Adam White, whose charges showed poise and an excellent grasp of basketball fundamentals in defeating the much bigger adult squad, 63-60.

The evening also featured a performance by the HMS cheerleaders, individual competitions, a raffle and sale of school spirit ware, and a collection of donations to the Willington Food Pantry by Girl Scout Troop 65292.

Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase items for sports recognition, banner, trophies and the like, which are not covered in the school's budget.
