With six returning starters, this year’s Windham High School varsity baseball team features three seniors and a pair who were named All-ECC players last year. Aaron Martineau and Luis Vega are juniors this year, and are expected to make important contributions to their team.

“We missed the state tourney by one game last year,” said Ken Valliere, who said that he is in his 16th year as coach of the Whippets. The Whips got off to a strong start this year, with a 14-0 season opener against Putnam, and will be looking to make it into post-season play.

Seniors on this year’s Windham High School varsity baseball team are Connor Hope (pitcher/first base), Miguel Ortiz (outfield) and Fernando Sanchez (catcher). Assistant coaches are Bill Pompa and Mike Haggerty.

Catch Windham at home on Tuesday, April 17, against Windham Tech, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
