Heading into the month of May, the RHAM varsity baseball team found itself with an 8-2 record. “We have an inexperienced team with only three starters who saw significant playing time returning,” said head coach Paul Steiner. “I was hoping we would do well, but with only three returning starters it was going to be a challenge,” said Steiner. “But the kids have worked very hard and are striving to do their best. We have a very competitive schedule, maybe the toughest we have ever had, playing five teams who have been ranked in the top 10 in the state all year.”

Junior Baylor LaPointe is the Sachems’ number-one pitcher, but Travis Salois, Aaron Tierney and Casey Barrett are “pushing every day,” said Steiner. LaPointe is the only returning All-CCC East conference player for the Sachems.

Seniors for the RHAM Sachems 2012 varsity baseball team are: Scott Anderson, Casey Barrett, Brandon Henley, Cody DePersia, Matt Sylia, Joel Hara and Aaron Tierney.

The assistant coach is Tim Guernsey.

The Sachems’ next home game is Wednesday, May 9, against Tolland, beginning at 3:45 p.m.
