Get tough with upholstery stains

Some of the toughest spills to get off upholstered furniture, especially if it is light colored, include juice, wine and tomato sauce. This is one way to attach these stubborn stains:

First wet the fabric and allow the stain to soak for one minute. Blot the area dry with a paper towel. Repeat the process until the paper towel is clean. Next use dishwashing liquid and warm water on the stain until no stain can be seen on the paper towel.  Finally, use club soda or tonic water on the stain.

After the stain has been removed, blot warm water onto the area and dry with a paper towel. You then brush the area dry with a clean towel.
