The RHAM boys’ cross-country team finished the regular season with a 4-3 record. The team lost six of their seven top runners after last year’s season. With a total of 45 runners competing this year, the varsity team is comprised of two seniors, several juniors and sophomores, “and a couple of freshmen that look like they’ll be contenders over the next few years,” said head coach Mark Law, who is in his ninth year as coach of the team. Todd Helweg is the assistant coach.
At the Wickham Invitational on Oct. 6, Law said, “We’re running pretty much how I thought we would. Overall, they’re doing what they’re supposed to do.” With the season winding down, the runners’ focus would be on “Getting a little bit faster, more committed to racing. Getting a little bit better doing it,” said Law.
The team came in number 21 out of 50 teams at the Wickham Invite unseeded race, with Mike Wulftange placing highest for RHAM at number 78 out of 381 runners.
RHAM was scheduled to compete on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Wickham Park for the CCC Championship race.
