At the Wickham Invitational on Oct. 6, Windham Tech boys’ cross-country coach Rich Zadroga had four junior varsity runners medal, including his top runner, Jesus Osuba. Sophomore Osuba finished first in the JV race, coming in before any of his competitors were even visible from the finish line.
With a 5-0 record as of Oct. 6, Zadroga was hoping for a victory during the team’s final dual meet against Putnam/Parish Hill. “That would clinch the CSC Eastern Championships for us,” said Zadroga. Looking ahead to the conference championship, “We’re hopeful to finish among the top teams,” said Zadroga. “This has been a very, very nice group of kids to work with.”
Also with a 5-0 record as of Oct. 6, the Windham Tech girls’ cross-country team was looking to gain some experience on the Wickham course in preparation for the league finals (also run at Wickham). “By running the course today it gives us a good idea of how we’ll compete in the league championships,” said head coach Ray Elliott. Finishing third in the CSC last year, “we like our chances to compete for that one spot,” said Elliott.
