With a sweep of Terryville on Nov. 14, the Coventry volleyball team added another mark to the win column, extended its winning streak to 21-0, and advanced to the final round of the Class S state tournament. Number-one-seeded Coventry, ranked the number one team in the state, met number-five-seeded Terryville, at Sports and Medical Sciences Academy in Hartford, and made a victory look almost effortless. The game scores were 25-8, 25-11 and 25-12.

Earlier in the evening, number-three-seeded Holy Cross had defeated number-two-seeded Morgan in a match that went five games. Holy Cross, with a 20-1 record, was scheduled to take on Coventry on Nov. 16 in Glastonbury for the Class S championship. The Coventry Patriots went into the finals in the midst of a 75-game winning streak. They have been the defending Class S champions since 2006.

The head coach of the Coventry volleyball team is Ryan Giberson. The seniors are Jessica Beausoleil, Erika Trudon, Alyssa Keeney, Nicole Uccello, Katherine Riddell, Claire Hall and Marina Rose.
