South Windsor High School celebrated its 50th anniversary with three days of school pride events before the Thanksgiving break, including the Powderpuff Football Game on Monday, Nov. 19, played at home.
Girls from the senior class donned jerseys and black grease paint and faced off against Rockville High School for a heated game of flag football. Despite spirited performances, Rockville was up 14-8 by halftime.
By the fourth quarter, Taylor Pendergast scored a touchdown which brought South Windsor up to 14, but Rockville’s final touchdown sealed the home team’s fate, ending the game 30-14.
After the game, students, teachers and parents gathered for a bonfire at the school’s lower field.
