Whether it was through science fairs or concerts, assemblies or invention conventions, local schools were busy during the year 2012 reaching out to the public to share students' learning and achievements. Hebron's Nature Trails Day, in May, even got members of the public involved in the teaching through interactive stations designed to inform about backyard critters and ecosystems.

Other events brought schools together for collaborative learning. Lebanon Elementary School, for example, invited students from Lyman Memorial High School in to share a love of science through fun experiments during Science Day in May. And in October, RHAM Middle School and high school students had the opportunity to play with UMass Amherst's wind ensemble during a day of sharing, culminating in a collaborative evening performance.

Here is a look back in photos at just a few of the many local school events from 2012.
