For some Windsor Locks kids, February break more was like a week of camp; a week of friends, fun and new things to see and do. About 50 children who were enrolled in the winter vacation programming were treated to a comical magic show put on by Windsor Locks native Tom O’Brien at North Street School on Feb. 20. O’Brien, who now lives in Washington, Conn., travels all over New England performing for a variety of audiences. He comes back every year to perform for the Windsor Locks children.

O’Brien’s down-to-earth rapport with the kids, who were preschool age to about fifth grade, made the children laugh with his light-hearted sarcasm.

Some of his tricks included floppy magic wands, “slipping” knots and playing cards which moved by themselves. At the end of his show, he surprised everyone with the appearance of a fuzzy gray rabbit, which he said is always a crowd-pleaser.

Windsor Locks Parks and Recreation’s summer camp enrollment is now under way.  For more information, go to the website
