On March 20, Sunset Ridge School faced off against O’Connell School at the first March Madness Basketball event. Students and staff members participated in this community event. The game, which was held at East Hartford Middle School, drew huge crowds with standing room only. The event consisted of a student game where students in fifth and sixth grade at both schools challenged one another to a lively game of basketball. In the end, the Sunset Ridge Eagles proved victorious.

A second game was played consisting of staff members and student players. This game had a nail-biter finish! The O’Connell Tigers won this game by a mere two points! Students and families enjoyed musical and dance performances, student cheers and special appearances made by the school’s mascots. American Eagle Federal Credit Union of East Hartford generously donated its Eagle mascot for this event. This event showcased the best of East Hartford and brought students, teachers and families together for a wonderful night out in the community.
