Putnam hosted its “Spring is a Circus” First Friday on May 3. The outdoor arts and entertainment extravaganza stretched along Main Street from the train station to the post office and along Front Street to the Complex for the Performing Arts.

Spring was in the air, and so was music. The four-member band Isa Jane performed at the station, while Will, Bill and Jules played to a crowd in front of the Putnam Congregational Church. Roland Baillargeon serenaded pedestrians in front of Jeremiah's with songs made famous by Brenda Lee. And JP Beausoleil played his guitar from a perch outside The Stomping Ground.

Vendors, artists and artisans showcased their wares and talents. And all manner of visitors took to the streets and boutiques, restaurants and area businesses to celebrate.

The year 2013 marks the third year of the art-based street festivals. The next First Friday will be “Day at the Beach” on June 7.
