On April 20, Katelyn Harvey and Chelsea Valli invited their classmates to come and celebrate their 7th birthday. This pirate-themed party included pirates, treasures, balloons and cupcakes – however, there was something missing.

Katelyn and Chelsea requested “no gifts, although donations to the Ray of Light Farm would be appreciated.” Their friends were very generous, and as a result, the girls collected close to $100.

Katelyn and Chelsea then proudly presented their donations to the Ray of Light Farm in East Haddam. As it turns out, it was good timing. The Ray of Light Farm is coming to a crossroads in its journey. The farm’s lease expires in 2015 and it is possible that the farm will be offered for sale. The Ray of Light Farm is hoping to raise a substantial amount of funding through donations and fundraising in order to keep the facility, its animals, and its programs strong and healthy. As a result, Ray of Light are launching its new “Keep the Light Shining Campaign.”
