The 23rd New England Summer Nationals was held July 4 through 7 at the Thompson International Speedway. Car fans descended on Thompson with their custom show cars, street rods and hot rods. The four-day event featured burnouts, drag racing and supervised hot laps around the track. There were balloons, car games, face-painting and cartoons for the kids. Helicopter rides, motorcycle stunt shows and live entertainment rounded out the schedule.
