Webster Bank ATM robbed July 4; police searching for suspect

The East Hartford Police Department is investigating a knifepoint ATM robbery that occurred on July 4 at 8 p.m. at the Webster Bank drive-thru ATM located at 1491 Silver Lane.

The suspect pulled up behind the victim in a white contractor-style van, possibly a Ford Econoline Van, police said. The suspect approached the passenger side of the vehicle, displayed a large knife, and demanded the cash from the transaction, according to police.

Police said the suspect was described as a light-skinned male, possibly Hispanic, in his 30s, wearing a blue and white football style jersey with #21.

The suspect also wore a black and red motorcycle helmet in an effort to conceal his face, police said.
