MARC, Inc., a nonprofit organization that services those with disabilities in Manchester and the surrounding towns, is presenting its 2013 Summer Concert Series. The free series, sponsored by Pratt & Whitney, will run Thursday nights, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the MARC Green, located at 151 Sheldon Road. Free parking is available at 135, 151 and 161 Sheldon Road and at 50 Utopia Road.
This is the second year of the concert series. “It culminated with the move to Sheldon Road in January 2012,” said Kevin Zingler, director of marketing for MARC, Inc. “We realized we had this wonderful green space and decided to host the concert series there.”
MARC decided to continue this year after the overwhelming response last year, Zingler said. “The events are also a great way to showcase what we do here at MARC," he said.
The series begins on July 18. “A-Ray of Elvis,” a 10-time international award-winning Elvis tribute artist, will give a performance. “He is phenomenal,” said Zingler. Food from Mulberry Street Pizza will be for sale.
On July 25, the “384 East Band,” a local favorite cover band playing hits from the '70s to today, will perform. Zingler compares them to the Savage Brothers Band. “They're a great bunch of local Manchester guys,” he said. The Main Pub will have food for sale.
The series concludes on Aug. 1 with a performance by the “Pratt & Whitney Screamin' Eagles Jazz Band” (originally scheduled for July 11, but postponed due to weather). Food from Corey's Catsup & Mustard will be available.
