River commission postpones races a second time; third time hopefully a charm

The American Heritage River Commission has postponed its cardboard boat race and the BMX Skate Park's rubber duck race. Both events were scheduled for July 14, but have been postponed for the second time and will hopefully be held on Sunday, July 21, provided river conditions are safe. The increasing rainfall has created high and muddy waters not condusive to hosting activities, according to Chairman Richard Sherman.

The Scantic River events will be held at the end of Church Street in Broad Brook. The rubber duck race will begin lining up at noon and take off at 1 p.m. and the cardboard boat race will be registering boats from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. and begin the race at 2 p.m.
