Behind strong pitching from Derek Griffiths, aggressive base-running, and heads-up play on defense, Killingly beat Plainfield 10-3 to move on in the District 11 championship play on July 19. The 15- to 16-year-old Senior League Little League players will move on to double elimination tournament play starting Monday, July 22, in Bristol.

Killingly's run wasn't always smooth, admitted coach Glen Ravenelle, but they gelled in the last few days. “When the tournament started, you could see the pieces come together," Ravenelle said as he watched his players run the bases with the senior league banner.

“Everybody all of a sudden came together as a team. I think it says something about never giving up. If you stick to what the plan is, sometimes you come out a champion.”
