The Colchester Bookmobile will once again be traveling through town Saturday, Aug. 3, beginning at 10 a.m. at Balaban Road (apartment playscape), then to Tavern Lane (10:30 a.m.), and Country Place (11:15 a.m.). The Bookmobile offers all residents many services, including book check-outs, book returns, issues library cards, and opportunities to obtain information on available Early Head Start services. If you are interested in volunteering time or donating books, please contact Evamarie Young at email@example.com.
The Colchester Bookmobile has been made possible through a partnership between C3, Colchester Rotary Club, Cragin Memorial Library, Backus Hospital and the Town of Colchester.
Originally started in 2011, the Bookmobile was unfortunately put on hold. Realizing the importance of such a service, partner organizations worked together to bring the Bookmobile back to Colchester the first Saturday of each month since February in an effort to help promote learning throughout the community.
Backus Hospital donated a Subaru for use as the Colchester Bookmobile. Many local residents have seen the Bookmobile lately traveling through town. It is, in essence, a vehicle that provides traveling library services to children in identified neighborhoods and will be delivering books to elderly home-bound individuals, as well.
The Bookmobile will be making more frequent visits throughout the summer.
