Kent Memorial Library hosted a three-dimensional origami art workshop with Fran Block on July 16. The room was full of children who were excited to learn how to make one art piece and transform it into something else.

Block took the children through the steps and showed them different paths to new creations. Samantha was excited when her ordinary hat became a “fish hat.” “I love this. It’s a lot of fun,” said Samantha. All the children listened for the next step to a different creation.

The children hung on Block’s every word. Lauren didn’t take her eyes off of the demonstrations. “This is fun,” she said.

Sydney was another one of the young artists who enjoyed this event. “Look what I made, Mom,” said Sydney, as she held her artwork up for her mom to admire during the workshop. The room was buzzing with the laughter and excitement of more than 20 artists.

“Fran Block came highly recommended for children’s workshops, so we were very excited that she was available for one of our summer events,” said Wendy Taylor, the head of the children’s department at the Kent Memorial Library. “We are encouraging children to get involved with reading and all that the library has to offer.”

Kent Memorial Library is located at 50 North Main St. in Suffield. For more information about upcoming programs and events, call 860-668-3869 or visit http://www.suffield-library.org.
