The results are in for PetSafe’s ‘Bark for Your Park’ contest. Although East Hartford was in the running, Texarkana, Texas, fielded the top dog, securing the $100,000 grand prize. Four separate $25,000 prizes were also awarded.
Voting closed on July 26, and the winners were announced on July 31. East Hartford finished 14th out of 15 cities across the country that made it to the finals. The contest originally started with 1,100 cities nationwide.
“Not bad for your first try,” said Mary Ann Guerra, who was leading East Hartford’s campaign with her dog Hanz, a Bichon-poodle mix. People could vote twice a day – once at www.petsafe.net and on PetSafe’s Facebook page.
Despite not winning, Guerra said she will continue to pursue a dog park for East Hartford. “I’m going to keep everyone hyped up about a future park for next year’s ‘Bark for Your Park’ PetSafe competition. We’re going to make sure that every single pet store in the area is going to know about East Hartford trying to win a dog park.”
