On Aug. 1, the Apex Remington Pipe and Supply Co. distribution center located in Marcus Hook, Penn., changed its sign and transferred its assets and personnel to an East Windsor-based company, Collins Pipe and Supply Co., Inc. The acquisition began approximately six months ago, when Apex Remington approached Collins to purchase the facility.

After a due diligence process, Collins decided to acquire the location just outside of Philadelphia. At this time, Collins approached Apex and the companies began to work through the process, which was finalized on July 31.

“Philadelphia is arguably the biggest market in the mid-Atlantic states,” said Collins Pipe & Supply Co., Inc. President BrianTuohey. “It was the right market and it's a great opportunity for us. It is a very strong oil and gas marketplace and that market is expanding very, very quickly.”

According to Tuohey, the Marcus Hook location was Apex's only pipe, valve and fitting distribution center on the east coast. “It wasn't really a strong fit for them and was a very strong fit for us,” said Tuohey. “So it made sense for us to acquire.” This will be Collins' first location in the mid-Atlantic states and outside of New England and upstate New York, where they have their other six facilities.
