This year, more than 800 people participated in the Celebrate Mansfield parade, a record number, according to Mayor Betsy Paterson. The Grand Marshal for this year’s parade was the Stearns family, owners of Mountain Dairy, “where the Stearns family has been producing and processing milk on their farm in Storrs since 1871,” according to the business’ website.

“For more than 240 years, the Stearns family has played a role in the Mansfield community,” said Paterson.

Participating in the parade, which started at the athletic fields behind the post office and ended at E.O. Smith High School, were local businesses, local politicians (and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman), local firefighters, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Brownies, sports teams and more.

The UConn cheerleaders and marching band anchored the tail end of the parade procession.
