With the weather officially having made its annual slide toward the cooler temperatures, South Elementary School found itself being overrun by dozens of witches, robots, pint-size puppies and cartoon characters on Oct. 25 during the annual Halloween Bash.
“This is the town’s Halloween party,” said Parks and Recreation employee Heather Ragion. “Both kids from North Street Elementary and South Elementary attend.” According to Ragion, the evening has been going on for about seven years.
Excited children were treated to a comical and entertaining magic show by magician Tom O’Brien. He is often employed by the town to entertain the kids during holiday vacations. O’Brien had several children from the audience assist him in performing simple tricks.
New to the Halloween Bash this year was a silent auction sponsored by the South Elementary Parent and Teacher Organization. Several baskets of goodies ranging from toys to snacks to sports gear were put on display for parents to bid on.
“This event is to give the kids something to do around the holiday,” said Ragion. “It’s another reason to dress up – so that Halloween is not a one-and-done event.”
