Last year super storm Sandy caused the delay of the Gilead Hill School Pumpkin Parade. The year before that, it was a freak October snowstorm that prompted the postponement of Halloween activities. But this year, despite an intermittent light drizzle, the parade went on as planned the afternoon of Oct. 31.

Peacocks, ballerinas and princesses, firemen, ninjas and superheroes trotted happily along the driveway of the school, searching for loved ones among the spectators lined up along the curb. For his first parade as the official principal of Gilead Hill School, newly-installed Principal Eric Brody was dressed as a disco Cassanova, complete with powder-blue polyester pants and a shoulder-length, dark brown wig.
