The South Windsor Police Department and volunteers conducted a food drive with the support of both Stop & Shop and Geissler’s supermarkets on Saturday, Nov. 16, and Sunday, Nov. 17. Volunteers  were at Stop & Shop, 1739 Ellington Road, and Geissler’s Supermarket, 965 Sullivan Ave., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to collect food items and donations that will go to the South Windsor Food Bank to help those in need during the holiday season.

The volunteers collected 220 boxes of food and collected $3,000 in cash and gift cards.

The SWPD thanks everyone who helped support this effort for our neighbors in need, including all the volunteers from the South Windsor Fire Department, South Windsor Ambulance Corps, Rotary Club, South Windsor Human Services & TRIAD, the High School Interact Club and the staff and managers at Stop & Shop and Geissler’s.
