There was no snow for this year’s annual Advent event at Blue Slope Farm in Franklin. So instead of a sleigh, visitors rode around the scenic farm in a wagon pulled by two of the farm’s huge Belgian draft horses.

There were carols to sing, blankets to snuggle under, and a cozy, warm barn to return to after the ride. Inside, there were warm drinks and popcorn. There was an Advent-themed craft for the children. There were hands-on nativity scenes. And for the adults, a portion of the farm’s large collection of antique farm implements was available for perusal.

Six-year-old Emma, who attended the event with her family, said that she had lots of fun on the ride. “But it was cold,” she admitted, with a smile.
