Seventh-grader Kylie Thuotte was a guest on WINY radio station on Dec. 19. The Killingly 12-year-old was promoting her recently-released Christmas CD, “A Very Kylie Christmas.” The six-song set includes classics, “Oh Holy Night,” “The First Noel,” “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” “Do You Hear What I Hear?” “Silent Night,” and an original song, “Please Hear the Bells.”
Thuotte has been singing for years. “It’s something I’m good at,” she said. She calls it a hobby, one she can do just about anywhere. She’s even sung for her mother’s clients at Innovative Design Hair Salon, in Danielson. That’s where Tracy Violette heard her sing. She was so impressed that she signed Thuotte up with Wolff Productions in Pomfret. Two months later, the six-song CD was released.
A first run of 100 CDs sold out in two days, said Violette. A second batch sold out as well. “We’re producing them as quickly as we can,” Violette said. After Thuotte’s WINY appearance, Violette’s phone was “exploding” with calls from people wanting to purchase it.
In 2009, Thuotte entered and came in second place in “Killingly’s Got Talent.” She won first place in 2009 and 2010 at the Brooklyn Fair. She joined “Catch a Rising Star” and won in 2010.
Violette believes that within a year, Thuotte will have a song on the radio. “Our goal is to have a top 10 hit next year,” she said. Already they are planning another CD.
A recording of Thuotte singing “Oh Holy Night” can be found at www.winyradio.com. The CD can be purchased through the Wolff Productions website or Facebook page, or by calling 860-933-4618.
