St. Mary’s Hall was transformed into a disco on Feb. 16. The Putnam Recreation Department held its annual “Someone Special Dance” for elementary school girls. The girls flocked to it in fancy clothes and coiffures with fathers and uncles, grandparents and mothers, brothers and cousins in tow.

Putnam High School girls’ varsity basketball players hosted the refreshment table. Coach Mandi Hogan said the event was a great way for her players to give back to the community.

“I love it,” Lynsay Dashnaw said. “It’s nice to see the kids having fun.”

Layla Bonoyer made the most of the music. “I want to dance,” she said to her uncle after a short break. And she led him back to the dance floor.
