Garden Club
COLCHESTER- The winter months are an excellent time to look over your landscape and plan for changes come spring. On Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the Cragin Memorial Library, the monthly meeting of Colchester Garden Club will host a program on Landscape Design Principles. Good garden design starts with an understanding of both plants and how the space to be designed will be used; it has organization and purpose, along with a pleasing vista. Sarah Bailey will review how to measure a space then discuss the underlying design principles to make the design process an enjoyable and productive exercise for anyone.
Sarah Bailey is a Certified Advanced Master Gardener and a Connecticut Accredited Nursery Professional. She has watered, weeded, fertilized and provided horticultural and design advice in the Farmington Valley area for the last fifteen years. Along with being the Hartford County Coordinator for the UCONN Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program and a pesticide safety educator, Sarah also attends to private garden clients. Additionally, she is on the boards of directors for the Connecticut Horticultural Society and the Connecticut Community Gardening Association.
New members are welcome to join; interested individuals may contact Mary, Vice President/Membership Chair, at colchestergardenclub@yahoo.com or 860-537-1034.
