Tree lighting, carol sing

EAST GRANBY - The East Granby Chamber of Commerce's tree lighting and community carol sing will be held Nov. 23 at 6:30 p.m. East Granby Junior Girl Scouts will turn on the lights at 6:30 p.m., to be followed by a community carol sing led by music instructor and guitarist Sandra Vick. After the festivities, the community is invited to participate in a “torchlight” parade to the senior/community center for hot cocoa and goodies. This community-centered event is completely free of charge, and participation by families, individuals, and organizations is encouraged. Bring a flashlight for the parade, and plan to help out those in need this holiday season by bringing a non-perishable food item for East Granby’s Friend to Friend Food Pantry. Collection bins will be available at the center. The organizations are seeking sponsors for additional light strands and refreshments, as well as bakers for the post-lighting goodies. The suggested donation is $20 and sponsors will be acknowledged in the event program. For more information contact Barbara Pigford at 860-653-3562.
