Alternative gift fair

TOLLAND - The United Congregational Church of Tolland, located at 45 Tolland Green, will hold an Alternative Gift Fair on Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Handcrafts, one of a kind jewelry, hand carved bowls and woven baskets, silk and linen scarves, ornaments and fair trade coffee and chocolates are a few of the featured items. The Fair will be held to support global artisan groups such as SERVV, The Emancipation Network, Eternal Threads and Red Threads in countries such as Haiti, Pakistan, Uganda, and Nepal. The sale of the handcrafts help these communities with basic health care, literacy, vocational training and programs that rescue girls from human trafficking, providing them with a safe haven, healing and hope for the future.
