'Burke & Hare'
MANCHESTER - Little Theatre of Manchester’s Evenings at 7 series presents a first reading of a new musical, "Burke & Hare," by Brian Jennings and Christopher Weed. The show will be directed by David McCamish with musical director Melanie Guerin on Dec. 11 at historic Cheney Hall.
As Edinburgh struggles to establish itself as the medical training center of Europe in the early 19th century, it is left to the underclass to supply the cadavers needed for anatomy study. Two Irish immigrants set upon a scheme to supply the market – with bodies of their own making. This musical is based on the true story of these murders in 1820s Scotland.
Little Theatre of Manchester play-readings are free and open to the public, but LTM will gladly accept donations at the door. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Cheney Hall is located at 177 Hartford Road, Manchester. For more information call 860-647-9824 or visit cheneyhall.org.
