College Goal Sunday
EAST HARTFORD - This January, students and their parents can receive one-on-one expert advice in learning about financial aid and planning for college during the upcoming statewide event, College Goal Sunday. On Jan. 27, students and their families can attend College Goal Sunday and talk with financial aid counselors and college staff in person from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at East Hartford High School. In a single afternoon, students and their families can become familiar with college entrance requirements, learn about planning for college, and obtain on-site assistance in filling out financial aid application forms [FAFSA]. Those interested in this service should go on our website at www.collegegoalsundayct.org and learn what to bring to the event. For students who are the first ones to attend college, the process of applying for college can seem complicated, especially finding financial resources and applying for aid to make the dream of attending college a reality. Participating in College Goal Sunday gives students and their families a great first step on the pathway to college. It gives the students and families an opportunity to learn about college preparations and financial aid in a comfortable setting. Participating students will have the opportunity to win scholarship money and other great college relevant prizes during a raffle. College Goal Sunday is funded and sponsored by Lumina Foundation for Education, the CT Association of Professional Financial Aid Administrators (CAPFAA), the CT Association of Educational Opportunity Programs (CAEOP), and the YMCAs of Connecticut. Students and parents are encouraged to take advantage of this event. For more information about the event, contact Uyi Osunde, guidance counselor, at email@example.com.
