Karnatak music rescheduled
SUFFIELD - On Feb. 23 at 7 p.m., First Church of Christ, Congregational, 81 High St, Suffield, will host David Nelson and Balu Balasubrahmaniyan, who are the keepers and bearers of an ancient, still-extant musical practice, that of Karnatak music. This style of music is probably the most rhythmically complex music to have ever existed; the singing defies all Euro-American expectations of the voice’s capacity. They will be joined by violinist L. Ramakrishnan, an emerging star of Karnatak violin.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
Music on High, a concert series, is part of the music ministry of the church. There is a suggested donation of $10 at the door which helps to support this ministry. A reception will follow the concert. For further information, call the church office at 860-668-7223.
