Plainfield’s 2010 Salutatorian seeks future in corporate law

Plainfield Panther Caitlin Duncan, 17, second in a class of more than 200, plans to double major in English and in Classics at UConn in Storrs, kicking off her college career this fall as a participant in the honors program. Later, she plans to pursue a law degree – she’s looking at Stanford University or Harvard – for a future in corporate law.

As a representative of the student council and president of the student government organization in her senior year of high school, co-head editor of the yearbook club and a member of the National Honor Society, Duncan is prepared to dedicate herself to her educational goals. Encouraged by her parents to do her best, the Plainfield graduate is ready to leave home and face adult challenges. “I feel like I am mentally prepared to handle it,” she said.

The future lawyer also plans to pursue her hobbies. Duncan writes creative fiction and hopes one day to add being a published author to her list of accomplishments.

To those still in school, she offered this advice, “You have to put the work and effort into reap what you sow,” she said. “Never give up. Our future is as bright as we want it to be, and nothing can hold us back.”
