Manchester Review February topic

Manchester - posted Feb, 16 2011

The Manchester Review February show will be "Manchester Youth Commission," airing Mondays at 9 p.m. on Channel 15. Manchester Review is a public affairs show hosted by Jack Peak. While the media focuses on "gang like " behavior at MHS and student arrests, 95 percent of high school students go to school every day and do what they need to do. Twenty two of them are members of the Manchester Youth Commission, an advisory commission to the Board of Directors. Two Officers from the group appear on Manchester Review in February to update the community on the activities of the Youth Commission during the past year. Guests Joe Wik, chairman and student from East Catholic High; and Meghan Kelliher, vice chair from MHS, explain the accomplishments of the commission and the issues they are tackling. The commission made recommendations supporting the library expansion and the redevelopment of the Parkade. In addition to other activities, three of them sit on the Library Commission. Tune in to hear how this "gang" of 22 high school students help make Manchester a better place to live. Students interested in serving on the Youth Commission can get information from Heather Wlochowski at the Manchester Youth Service Bureau by calling 860-647-5215.
